Acuity State Aligned Assessment Solutions is an interim and benchmarking assessment system aligned to state standards for ELA, math and science. The complete assessment system includes assessments, reports, instructional resources and options for customization, and can be administered using a variety of formats, including pencil-and-paper, online, or using student response devices. Math is measured at all grade levels from 3-8.
Pros: Takes students a reasonable amount of time to complete
Cons: Not aligned to the standards I teach • Does not assess higher-order thinking • Misses growth of some students, such as those far below and/or far above grade level
Pros: Easy to administer • Results returned quickly • Helps me track my students' learning gains over the course of the school year • Data I receive helps me understand where I am teaching well and where I need to improve
Cons: It is hard to use the data • Is not helpful to my professional growth as a teacher
Many of the problems in the test had errors and needed to be corrected. The errors were corrected after the tests were administered, therefore making the tests taken invalid. There is too much testing involved, either do benchmarks or screenings not both. With so much testing we do not have time to cover the core.

Pros: Aligned to the standards I teach
Cons: Does not assess higher-order thinking • Misses growth of some students, such as those far below and/or far above grade level • Takes students too long to complete
Pros: Results returned quickly
Cons: Difficult to administer • Doesn't help me track my students' learning gains over time • It is hard to use the data • Is not helpful to my professional growth as a teacher
The language and wording used in the test is not appropriate for first graders, and is very difficult for ELLs, so it is difficult to know if the student does not understand the math, or is having trouble with the syntax used to state the question. Data is too thin to inform teaching. 1 or 2 questions per topic doesn't give enough info. Aproximately 10 topics are covered in 18 questions. It also forces me to teach broadly instead of deeply. That adds up to 40 topics to cover in a school year.

Pros: Aligned to the standards I teach • Assesses a range of students, including those from far below to far above grade level • Takes students a reasonable amount of time to complete
Pros: Easy to administer • Results returned quickly • Helps me track my students' learning gains over the course of the school year • Data is presented clearly • Data I receive helps me understand where I am teaching well and where I need to improve
I love this and my kids are learning so much more that I can quickly see what skills they need. Sometimes the data can be overwhelming if a student has a great deal of standards to master, but it is well worth it for academic success.
