Additional Comments

The Writing Portfolio is a wonderful tool for assessing a student's writing ability and growth. I am a special education teacher, and I have concerns about the assessment of my students who have extremely poor writing skills, but can orally express their answers to a writing prompt with complete sentences and continuity of thought.

Additional Comments

Folio Writing measures students growth in the major areas that are assessed in the state's assessment: style, organization, conventions, and support. The turn around time for scoring is effectively in place to teach or re-teach for growth. The assessments arebaligned with the states expectation, while preparing students for the actual writing assessment. This assessment allows for the development of skills and lessons that will prepare the students for growth. The data from the assessment also offers an opportunity for improvements in order to effectively teach writing and related skills.
